An ACAD trained art director (actually, ACA at the time; it had yet to adopt the “D” when I’d graduated), I’ve
been working in advertising for the better part of 15 years.

I’ve always been enraptured by the visual, and more specifically the role it plays in successful advertising communications. Whatever the medium, it’s been my focus to get the most out of the visual component,
whether it involves graphics, photography, typography, illustration or a combination of all of these elements.

Since entering the world of advertising at MacLaren McCann West—initially in Calgary then later on in Vancouver—I’ve gone on to work both for big agencies like Ogilvy & Mather and Y&R, as well as smaller
ones (albeit with big creative chops) like Push, Karo and Rare Method.

Photo illustration—the combining/altering/retouching of images after the initial photographic process—proved to be another one of my strengths. Born of the desire to get big-budget results from budgets that were decidedly not, I learned how to make things happen in my pieces that would be otherwise impossible. Whether the difficulty lay in getting additional money from a client (no mean feat), or executing on a concept too fantastic to achieve through normal photography (see images above), photo illustration has elevated the level of my work, resulting in ads that resonate more completely with the viewer.

I invite you to have a look at some examples of my work, and please drop me a line if you’d like to know more about what I do, and more importantly, what I can do for you.
